Target species: Cat Ba Langur (Trachypithecus poliocephalus).
Cat Ba Langur/ Golden – Headed Langur (Trachypithecus poliocephalus), one of most endangered primates with only 90 individuals left in the world. These monkeys live on the steep limestone cliffs that make up most of Cat Ba Island.
In the early morning: Our team “ Viet Wildlife Trips’’ will pick you up at Hanoi (or Noi Bai airport) to go to Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong Province. (4 hours)
We will check in to get a Hotel in Cat Ba island and having Lunch.
In the afternoon:
We go by boat to the langur’s living area to capture the moments when they are grooming their babies on the cliff before going to their sleeping caves.
Target species: Delacour’s Langur (Trachypithecus delacouri)
5.00 am: We go by boat to the langur’s living area to capture the moments when they are foraging.
10.00 am: We will return to the main island for breakfast and check out the hotel.
12:00 am: We will leave the Island to go to Van Long Nature Reserve (5 hours by transfer)
We will have lunch on the way.
17:00: We will check in the hotel at Van Long area.
Target species: Delacour’s Langur (Trachypithecus delacouri)
The Delacour’s Langur is an endemic, Critically endangered species that with a population of less than 300 individuals left in the wild. These monkeys are only distributed in the northern region of Vietnam. This is your opportunity to capture wonderful moments of their life on limestone mountain.
5.00 am: We will start going to the core protected area where these Langurs are living to capture the moment when they are foraging.
10.00 am: We will return to the hotel for having breakfast and take a break. This is also the langur’s resting time.
13:00 pm: We will have lunch and some coffee.
15.00 – 17.00 pm: We will do a Bamboo boat trip to the depths of limestone mountains where Delacour’s Langur lives. With patience we will capture the moments when the adult langurs grooming their baby on the cliffs before going to their sleeping cave.
After that we come back for dinner and rest at the Hotel.
After having breakfast, we will go to Van Ho Nature Reserve (4 hours by transfer)
Target species: Northern White – cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys)
The White – Cheeked Crested Gibbon is only found in Nothern of Vietnam and Nothern Laos. They also formerly inhabited Van Nam province in southern of China where they reported to be on the brink of extinction in 2008, they were finally confirmed extinct in China in 2013.
Currently in the Northern of Vietnam such as Van Ho Nature Reserve, there are 5 gibbon groups (each group about 5 individuals) distributed in the core protect area of Van Ho Protection Area.
We will check in to stay at a local Homestay/ Hotel and prepare for the next day.
In the early morning: we will do hiking to the core protected area of Van Ho Nature Reserve where the Gibbon are living.
The morning time is the best time to observe them and to record their voice.
We will have picnic lunch inside the jungle
In the afternoon: we continue to search for other gibbon families.
Late afternoon: we go back to the homestay for taking rest
After having breakfast, we will go back to Hanoi Airport to take the flight going to Da Nang Province (5 hours by Car + 2 hours by flight)
We will arrive around 18:00 to Da Nang
We will stay in a Hotel in Da Nang City
Target: Red- Shanked Douc Langur (Pygathrix nemaeus).
We have a full days in Son Tra Nature Reserve for to explore and take photos of Red- Shanked Douc Langur ( Pygathrix nemaeus). This is the most colorful of all primate species and they also called ‘Queen of primates’.
Son Tra Peninsula is where the largest population of the Red-shanked Douc Langur living, with an estimation of about 1300 individuals. This was also a Military location during the war, therefore the local could not enter to hunt, so therefore it was well protected and preserved.
After the day in Son Tra, we will spend one more night in Da Nang City
After having breakfast, we will go to the Da Nang Airport to flight to Ho Chi Minh City (1.5 hours), then from Ho Chi Minh city, we will go by Car to Cat Tien National Park (5 hours)
We will arrive around 18:30 then check in a Bungalow inside the Park
The Cat Tien National Park is a forest with very high biodiversity. Cat Tien National Park was recognized as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2001; The Ramsar Secretariat has recognized Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake) Wetland as a Ramsar Convention of International Importance in 2005; and on September 27, 2012 – World Tourism Day, Cat Tien National Park was ranked as a special national monument by the Government of Vietnam.
We will have two full days in Cat Tien National Park
Target: Southern Yellow – Cheecked Gibbon ( Nomsscus gabriellae), Black – Shanked Douc Langur ( Pygathrix nigrpes), Annam Silvered Langur ( Trachypithecus cristatus ), Pygmy Loris ( Nycticebus pygmaeus)
We will wak up early morning for explore and photography for Yellow – Cheecked Gibbon ( Nomsscus gabriellae), Black – Shanked Douc Langur ( Pygathrix nigrpes), Anam Silvered Langur (Trachypithecus germaini )
Night spoting: ( Depending on the weather condition we can organize night – Spotting trips ) : We will have an evening walk in the primary forest for explore : Pygmy loris, Asian barred Owlet, Collared scops Owl, Brow -hawk Owl…
After have a breakfast and Coffe we are departure from Cat Tien National Park toTan Son Nhat International Airport for drop off location and say goodbye !
